Kush M. Parmar, MD, PhD
Principal
Dr. Parmar joined 5AM Ventures in 2010 from Harvard Medical School, where he was an NIH-sponsored MD/Ph.D. Physician Scientist Trainee in the joint Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology Program. He completed clinical clerkships at the Massachusetts General & Brigham and Women’s Hospitals. Dr. Parmars Ph.D. work at Harvard unveiled a novel paradigm of how blood flow leads to “healthy” changes in arteries, published in The Journal of Clinical Investigation, Journal of Biological Chemistry and others. In addition, he attended courses at Harvard Business School in private equity and finance and consulted for a Boston area oncology startup. Prior to Harvard, Dr. Parmar worked with Nobel Prize winner Eric F. Wieschaus at Princeton University on his undergraduate thesis in developmental genetics. At Princeton he founded a non-profit international development organization, the Cruz Blanca Initiative, which has funded and executed the construction of numerous schools and clinics in the most underserved communities of Mexico. Dr. Parmar holds an A.B. in Molecular Biology and Medieval Studies from Princeton University, a Ph.D. in Experimental Pathology from Harvard University, and an M.D. from Harvard Medical School. Dr. Parmar is based in the Waltham, MA office.
